A Call To Worship: Standing In Solidarity with the Churches Whose Buildings Have Been Burned.

[Leader]
Lord as we celebrate our country’s freedom this weekend, we were reminded this week that not all of us have always experienced that freedom. Today our hearts are heavy as many of our sister’s and brother’s places of worship sit in ashes.

[All]
The acts of racism have once again breached the walls of Your church.

[Leader]
We grieve together as one church this day, united in voice and purpose.  The fires of the past have ignited once again and this day we stand in support of congregations whose lives have been scorched by the flames.

[All]
Acts of racism have once again breached the walls of Your church.

[Leader]
We grieve that, too often, throughout history our black brothers and sisters have been the ones burned by these flames of hatred.

[All]
In love we pray for them and cry for peace and justice.

[Leader]
Your cross has shown us the path of unconditional love. May we suffer with them, stand up for them and – in the way you taught us – lay down our own privileges to see Your church lifted from the ashes.

[All]
May we love our sisters and brothers enough to act together in solidarity. Today may we move another step closer to unity. We love You!

AMEN
